You may have seen that Tarleton Libraries has a Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest (as well as other social media accounts)but did you know that we also have an Instagram?

Search for our username @tarletonlib to follow us.

We post Tarleton-related and Library-related photos. For example, we have posted a few renovation updates to keep our users current on what's happening in our building.

We also post images of interesting/visually pleasing things that we find around campus; for example the tulips that are blooming in front of the library.

We're always open for suggestions. Also, if you take a library-related image, you can tag us in the photo or use a hashtag such as #dsl, #tarletonlibrary, #dslibrary, #Tarleton.

Libraries, Literacy, & Twit'stagram, Oh My!

April 14th marks the beginning of National Library Week. The theme for this years NLW is Communities Matter @ Your Library. Libraries everywhere celebrate in their own fashion. Whether it's promoting a new reading program, the construction of a new library commons, or the addition of e-readers, every library has their own special way of saying "Hey, we are here to help!"

At the Dick Smith Library, we celebrate by featuring symbols of Tarleton's past and present on specialized READ posters. We have featured Dr. Dottavio, Purple Poo, ROTC, Tarleton Players, the Texan Rider, and the Plowboys. The DSL is excited with anticipation to reveal the 2013 READ posters. Join us on Monday, April 15 at 1:30pm in the library's lobby to see who is on this year's READ posters. Light refreshments will be served!

Also in honor of NLW, the Dick Smith Library will be having a Twit'stagram contest. Silly name, awesome contest! You take a picture on Instagram (make sure to set up an account) and tag us (@TarletonLib). We will pick our favorites and post them to our Facebook page. From there, you have to get your friends involved! Most liked pic wins!

What's a Twit'stagram? 5 Days Until the Contest!

You've probably heard of Twitter and maybe even Instagram....but have you heard of Twit'stagram?

 

The Dick Smith Library is holding a contest starting Monday, April 15th which incorporates both Twitter and Instagram to participate.

The contest is simple:

1) Pick a category: "What I love about the Library" and/or "My Favorite Reading Material"

2) Take out your smart phone, iPad, or other device capable of Instagram and snap a photo to demonstrate the category.

3) Make sure you post it to Twitter with the hashtag #TSULibLovers or #TSUREAD and mention the Library's Twitter account, @TarletonLib

4) You're entered in the contest! But wait, be sure to keep an eye out on our Facebook page to see if your image was selected to be voted on for the winner. Recruit your friends to "Like" the Library's Facebook page and then "Like" your photo. The final vote is in YOUR hands!

5) We'll announce the winner on Friday, April 26th @ noon. If you're the winner, be sure to come photo op ready! :)
