Former U.S. Congressman Charles Stenholm visited the Dick Smith Library on Monday, May 4. The Library recently received the desk Mr. Stenholm used while serving in the U.S. House of Representatives, representing Texas' then-District 17 from 1979 to 2005. Library staff put some of his memorabilia on display along with the desk in the Special Collections Suite on the lower level of the library. The photo shows Stenholm sitting in his former office chair at his desk in the library.
The Library also has
Stenholm's legislative papers, which
Collections Archivist Gary Spurr is working on
indexing and describing.
Mr. Stenholm is a 1959 graduate of Tarleton, which at that time was a two-year college. He majored in Agricultural Education and served as his class vice-president.
