Meet Our Staff: Stacy Ferrell

Stacy Ferrell
Acquisitions Specialist
Room 113, Bldg 102
Oveta Culp Hobby Memorial Library
Tarleton Central Texas Campus
Killeen, Texas

I am a Library Specialist II at Tarleton Library-Central Texas in Killeen and have worked for Tarleton for over eight years. I began as a circulation and periodicals clerk, moved on to interlibrary loan assistant, and am currently responsible for purchasing, acquisitions, and library payables and receivables. In short, this means that I am cross-trained to do almost everything except cataloging and reference!

Prior to working for Tarleton, I spent ten years as a teacher’s assistant for Copperas Cove Independent School District. There I worked with children from pre-kindergarten to fourth grade in the computer lab. It’s an odd feeling seeing those same faces as college students now at the library.

I have an Associate in Applied Sciences degree from Central Texas College in Business Management with honors.

I participate in community service and am trained as a Civilian Emergency Response Team (CERT) member. I have enjoyed building and repairing homes with the Habitat for Humanity and 8 Days of Hope organizations. I also get pleasure from “improving” my home. Last year my husband and I laid new laminate wood flooring, a weekend project that took eight days to complete!

I use interlibrary loans often to obtain most of my reading materials. I like to read murder mysteries, fiction and nonfiction, as well as health-related and home-improvement material.
